Single device supports multiple deployments, including copper, FTTN and FTTH

May 17, 2010 – ZyXEL Communications Inc., a leading provider of secure broadband networking, Internet connectivity and routing products, today announced the P2812HNU, a single gateway that supports copper, fiber-to-the-node (FTTN) and fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) deployments.

The P2812HNU, with dual-WAN, offers a range of connectivity options, making it one of the most flexible devices on the market. An integrated VDSL2 modem enables service providers to support up to 100/50 Mbps over newer PTM networks – along with ADSL2+ fallback to accommodate existing networks. The gateway also has a dedicated Gigabit Ethernet WAN port for FTTH deployments. In addition to broadband access, the P2812HNU is a super fast home networking unit with 300Mbps 802.11n wireless, four Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports and two SIP-based VoIP ports. It’s a complete one-box networking system, which meets all of a subscriber’s digital home connectivity needs. On the management side, the device supports TR-069 for remote management, allowing service providers to configure and manage networks without the expense of in-field personnel and truck-rolls.

“The P2812HNU is one of our most versatile offerings,” said Brian Feng, senior vice president of ZyXEL. “It offers operators multiple deployment, management and service options, including triple-play and VoIP.”

P2812HNU benefits at a glance:
• Dual-mode WAN with VDSL2 and Gigabit Ethernet WAN
• ADSL2+ fallback
• Two FXS ports for VoIP
• Advanced home networking with 802.11n wireless and Gigabit Ethernet switch
• Automatic traffic prioritization for triple-play applications
• TR-069 remote management
